Sault Ste. Marie's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Sault Ste. Marie's own coordinates (46.5168°N, 84.3333°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Sault Ste. Marie's prayer times are worked out

From Sault Ste. Marie, the Qibla is 51° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 10,612 km (6,594 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Sault Ste. Marie's own coordinates (46.52°N, 84.33°W), not a national average. That is why Sault Ste. Marie's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Sault Ste. Marie timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Sault Ste. Marie lies well west inside its Toronto time zone. So the sun peaks about 106 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:22 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 55m near June down to 10h 07m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Sault Ste. Marie come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time.
