Sarnia Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Sarnia, Canada

Prayer times in Sarnia are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (42.98°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across Canada. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Sarnia's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Sarnia's own coordinates (42.9787°N, 82.4041°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Sarnia's prayer times are worked out

From Sarnia, the Qibla is 52° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 10,737 km (6,672 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Sarnia's own coordinates (42.98°N, 82.40°W), not a national average. That is why Sarnia's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Sarnia timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Sarnia lies well west inside its Toronto time zone. So the sun peaks about 98 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:15 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 09m near June down to 10h 26m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Sarnia come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Sterling Heights, Warren and Pontiac. Each is only a few minutes off Sarnia's clock.
