Prayer Times in Lansing, Michigan

Lansing's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Michigan and across the United States. They are drawn from Lansing's own coordinates (42.7325°N, 84.5555°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Lansing's prayer times are worked out

From Lansing, the Qibla is 51° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 10,891 km (6,768 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Lansing's own coordinates (42.73°N, 84.56°W), not a national average. That is why Lansing's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Lansing timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Lansing lies well west inside its Detroit time zone. So the sun peaks about 107 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:23 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 07m near June down to 10h 27m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Lansing come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Flint, Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids. Each is only a few minutes off Lansing's clock.
