Medicine Hat Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Medicine Hat, Canada

Prayer times in Medicine Hat are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (50.04°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across Canada. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Medicine Hat's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Medicine Hat's own coordinates (50.0393°N, 110.6766°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Medicine Hat's prayer times are worked out

From Medicine Hat, the Qibla is 28° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 11,555 km (7,180 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Medicine Hat's own coordinates (50.04°N, 110.68°W), not a national average. That is why Medicine Hat's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Medicine Hat timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Medicine Hat lies well west inside its Edmonton time zone. So the sun peaks about 91 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:08 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 28m near June down to 9h 44m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Medicine Hat come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Lethbridge, Calgary and Airdrie. Each is only a few minutes off Medicine Hat's clock.
