Red Deer's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Red Deer's own coordinates (52.2668°N, 113.8020°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Red Deer's prayer times are worked out

From Red Deer, the Qibla is 25° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 11,431 km (7,103 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Red Deer's own coordinates (52.27°N, 113.80°W), not a national average. That is why Red Deer's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Red Deer timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Red Deer lies well west inside its Edmonton time zone. So the sun peaks about 104 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:20 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 49m near June down to 9h 28m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Red Deer come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Airdrie, Calgary and Sherwood Park. Each is only a few minutes off Red Deer's clock.
