Long Beach Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Long Beach, California

Prayer times in Long Beach are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (33.77°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across California. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Long Beach's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in California and across the United States. They are drawn from Long Beach's own coordinates (33.7701°N, 118.1937°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Long Beach's prayer times are worked out

From Long Beach, the Qibla is 24° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 13,451 km (8,358 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Long Beach's own coordinates (33.77°N, 118.19°W), not a national average. That is why Long Beach's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Long Beach timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Long Beach lies well west inside its Los Angeles time zone. So the sun peaks about 61 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:38 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 15h 48m near June down to 11h 08m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Long Beach come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Anaheim, Santa Ana and Los Angeles. Each is only a few minutes off Long Beach's clock.
