Jacksonville Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Jacksonville, Florida

Prayer times in Jacksonville are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (30.33°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across Florida. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Jacksonville's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Florida and across the United States. They are drawn from Jacksonville's own coordinates (30.3322°N, 81.6557°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Jacksonville's prayer times are worked out

From Jacksonville, the Qibla is 55° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 11,520 km (7,158 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Jacksonville's own coordinates (30.33°N, 81.66°W), not a national average. That is why Jacksonville's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Jacksonville timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Jacksonville lies well west inside its New York time zone. So the sun peaks about 95 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:13 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 15h 26m near June down to 11h 22m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Jacksonville come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Orlando, Tampa and Columbia. Each is only a few minutes off Jacksonville's clock.
