Falls Church's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Virginia and across the United States. They are drawn from Falls Church's own coordinates (38.8823°N, 77.1711°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Falls Church's prayer times are worked out

From Falls Church, the Qibla is 56° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 10,644 km (6,614 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Falls Church's own coordinates (38.88°N, 77.17°W), not a national average. That is why Falls Church's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Falls Church timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Falls Church lies well west inside its New York time zone. So the sun peaks about 77 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:54 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 16h 28m near June down to 10h 46m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Falls Church come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Washington DC, Alexandria and Silver Spring. Each is only a few minutes off Falls Church's clock.
