Prayer Times in Saint John, Canada

Prayer times in Saint John are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (45.27°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across Canada. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Saint John's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Saint John's own coordinates (45.2708°N, 66.0562°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Saint John's prayer times are worked out

From Saint John, the Qibla is 64° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 9,496 km (5,901 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Saint John's own coordinates (45.27°N, 66.06°W), not a national average. That is why Saint John's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Saint John timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Saint John lies well west inside its Moncton time zone. So the sun peaks about 93 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:09 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 38m near June down to 10h 13m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Saint John come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Fredericton, Moncton and Lower Sackville. Each is only a few minutes off Saint John's clock.
