Saguenay Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Saguenay, Canada

Prayer times in Saguenay are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (48.42°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across Canada. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Saguenay's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Saguenay's own coordinates (48.4168°N, 71.0657°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Saguenay's prayer times are worked out

From Saguenay, the Qibla is 61° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 9,671 km (6,009 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Saguenay's own coordinates (48.42°N, 71.07°W), not a national average. That is why Saguenay's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Saguenay timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Saguenay lies well west inside its Toronto time zone. So the sun peaks about 53 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:29 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 15m near June down to 9h 55m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Saguenay come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Chicoutimi, Jonquière and Charlesbourg. Each is only a few minutes off Saguenay's clock.
