Oklahoma City Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Prayer times in Oklahoma City are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (35.47°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across Oklahoma. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Oklahoma City's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Oklahoma and across the United States. They are drawn from Oklahoma City's own coordinates (35.4676°N, 97.5164°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Oklahoma City's prayer times are worked out

From Oklahoma City, the Qibla is 42° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 12,256 km (7,616 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Oklahoma City's own coordinates (35.47°N, 97.52°W), not a national average. That is why Oklahoma City's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Oklahoma City timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Oklahoma City lies well west inside its Chicago time zone. So the sun peaks about 98 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:15 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 16h 01m near June down to 11h 01m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Oklahoma City come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Tulsa, Wichita and Irving. Each is only a few minutes off Oklahoma City's clock.
