Lubbock Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Lubbock, Texas

Prayer times in Lubbock are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (33.58°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across Texas. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Lubbock's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Texas and across the United States. They are drawn from Lubbock's own coordinates (33.5779°N, 101.8552°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Lubbock's prayer times are worked out

From Lubbock, the Qibla is 39° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 12,675 km (7,876 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Lubbock's own coordinates (33.58°N, 101.86°W), not a national average. That is why Lubbock's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Lubbock timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Lubbock lies well west inside its Chicago time zone. So the sun peaks about 116 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:33 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 15h 47m near June down to 11h 09m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Lubbock come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time.
