North Vancouver Prayer Times

Prayer Times in North Vancouver, Canada

Prayer times in North Vancouver are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (49.32°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across Canada. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

North Vancouver's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from North Vancouver's own coordinates (49.3164°N, 123.0693°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How North Vancouver's prayer times are worked out

From North Vancouver, the Qibla is 17° from true north. Face north to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 11,969 km (7,437 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from North Vancouver's own coordinates (49.32°N, 123.07°W), not a national average. That is why North Vancouver's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the North Vancouver timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. North Vancouver lies well west inside its Vancouver time zone. So the sun peaks about 81 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:57 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 22m near June down to 9h 49m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for North Vancouver come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby East Hastings, Downtown Vancouver and Vancouver. Each is only a few minutes off North Vancouver's clock.
