Kelowna Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Kelowna, Canada

Prayer times in Kelowna are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (49.88°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across Canada. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Kelowna's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Kelowna's own coordinates (49.8831°N, 119.4857°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Kelowna's prayer times are worked out

From Kelowna, the Qibla is 20° from true north. Face north to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 11,828 km (7,349 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Kelowna's own coordinates (49.88°N, 119.49°W), not a national average. That is why Kelowna's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Kelowna timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Kelowna lies well west inside its Vancouver time zone. So the sun peaks about 66 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:43 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 26m near June down to 9h 45m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Kelowna come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Kamloops, Chilliwack and Abbotsford. Each is only a few minutes off Kelowna's clock.
