Prayer Times in Abbotsford, Canada

Abbotsford's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Abbotsford's own coordinates (49.0580°N, 122.2526°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Abbotsford's prayer times are worked out

From Abbotsford, the Qibla is 18° from true north. Face north to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 11,979 km (7,443 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Abbotsford's own coordinates (49.06°N, 122.25°W), not a national average. That is why Abbotsford's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Abbotsford timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Abbotsford lies well west inside its Vancouver time zone. So the sun peaks about 77 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:54 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 19m near June down to 9h 51m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Abbotsford come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Chilliwack, Langley and Maple Ridge. Each is only a few minutes off Abbotsford's clock.
