Prayer Times in Ţurayf, Saudi Arabia
Prayer times in Ţurayf are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (31.67°N). We use the Umm al-Qura method, the one followed across Saudi Arabia. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.
Ţurayf's times use the Umm al-Qura method. That is the standard followed by most mosques in Saudi Arabia. They are drawn from Ţurayf's own coordinates (31.6720°N, 38.6630°E). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.
How Ţurayf's prayer times are worked out
From Ţurayf, the Qibla is 174° from true north. Face south to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 1,146 km (712 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Ţurayf's own coordinates (31.67°N, 38.66°E), not a national average. That is why Ţurayf's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.
One local quirk shapes the Ţurayf timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Ţurayf lies well west inside its Riyadh time zone. So the sun peaks about 33 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:10 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 15h 56m near June down to 11h 35m in December.
The Fajr and Isha angles for Ţurayf come from Umm al-Qura University, Makkah. The Umm al-Qura method sets Fajr when the sun is 18.5° below the horizon, and Isha 90 minutes after Maghrib. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Qurayyat, Rukban and As-Suwayda. Each is only a few minutes off Ţurayf's clock.

Who sets prayer times in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia's official times come from the Umm al-Qura calendar. It is administered by the Institute of Astronomical and Geophysical Research, at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in Riyadh. Its method is distinctive. Fajr is calculated at 18.5° below the horizon, but Isha is not an angle at all. It is fixed at 90 minutes after Maghrib, extended to 120 minutes during Ramadan. This page uses that Umm al-Qura convention. The dominant school is Hanbali, so Asr is called at the first shadow rather than the later Hanafi second-shadow time. The Eastern Province has a historic Maliki presence, which shares the same first-shadow Asr.
The two holiest mosques on earth
No country carries the weight in Islam that Saudi Arabia does. Masjid al-Haram in Mecca encloses the Kaaba. That is the qibla every one of the world's Muslims turns toward for all five daily prayers, from every city on this site. It is also the focal point of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina, the Prophet's Mosque, is the second-holiest site in Islam. Built by the Prophet Muhammad in 622 CE, its Green Dome rises over his tomb. Prayer in these two mosques carries a reward described in the hadith as many times that of prayer elsewhere. That is why they draw worshippers from across the planet year-round.
