St. Catharines's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from St. Catharines's own coordinates (43.1713°N, 79.2427°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How St. Catharines's prayer times are worked out

From St. Catharines, the Qibla is 55° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 10,518 km (6,535 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from St. Catharines's own coordinates (43.17°N, 79.24°W), not a national average. That is why St. Catharines's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the St. Catharines timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. St. Catharines lies well west inside its Toronto time zone. So the sun peaks about 85 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:02 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 11m near June down to 10h 25m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for St. Catharines come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Niagara Falls, Welland and Stoney Creek. Each is only a few minutes off St. Catharines's clock.
