Prayer Times in Norfolk County, Canada

Norfolk County's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Norfolk County's own coordinates (42.8334°N, 80.3830°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Norfolk County's prayer times are worked out

From Norfolk County, the Qibla is 54° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 10,615 km (6,596 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Norfolk County's own coordinates (42.83°N, 80.38°W), not a national average. That is why Norfolk County's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Norfolk County timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Norfolk County lies well west inside its Toronto time zone. So the sun peaks about 90 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:07 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 08m near June down to 10h 26m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Norfolk County come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Brantford, Hamilton and Stoney Creek. Each is only a few minutes off Norfolk County's clock.
