Hackensack's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in New Jersey and across the United States. They are drawn from Hackensack's own coordinates (40.8859°N, 74.0435°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Hackensack's prayer times are worked out

From Hackensack, the Qibla is 58° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 10,299 km (6,399 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Hackensack's own coordinates (40.89°N, 74.04°W), not a national average. That is why Hackensack's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Hackensack timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Hackensack lies well west inside its New York time zone. So the sun peaks about 65 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:41 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 16h 48m near June down to 10h 36m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Hackensack come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Clifton, Paterson and Bronx. Each is only a few minutes off Hackensack's clock.
