Bronx Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Bronx, New York

Prayer times in Bronx are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (40.84°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across New York. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Bronx's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in New York and across the United States. They are drawn from Bronx's own coordinates (40.8448°N, 73.8648°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Bronx's prayer times are worked out

From Bronx, the Qibla is 59° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 10,289 km (6,393 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Bronx's own coordinates (40.84°N, 73.86°W), not a national average. That is why Bronx's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Bronx timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Bronx lies well west inside its New York time zone. So the sun peaks about 64 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:41 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 16h 47m near June down to 10h 37m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Bronx come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Queens, Hackensack and New York. Each is only a few minutes off Bronx's clock.
