Coquitlam Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Coquitlam, Canada

Prayer times in Coquitlam are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (49.28°N). We use the ISNA method, the one followed across Canada. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Coquitlam's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Coquitlam's own coordinates (49.2846°N, 122.7822°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Coquitlam's prayer times are worked out

From Coquitlam, the Qibla is 17° from true north. Face north to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 11,966 km (7,436 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Coquitlam's own coordinates (49.28°N, 122.78°W), not a national average. That is why Coquitlam's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Coquitlam timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Coquitlam lies well west inside its Vancouver time zone. So the sun peaks about 79 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:56 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 22m near June down to 9h 49m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Coquitlam come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time.
