Whalley's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Canada and across the United States. They are drawn from Whalley's own coordinates (49.1792°N, 122.8667°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Whalley's prayer times are worked out

From Whalley, the Qibla is 17° from true north. Face north to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 11,979 km (7,444 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Whalley's own coordinates (49.18°N, 122.87°W), not a national average. That is why Whalley's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Whalley timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Whalley lies well west inside its Vancouver time zone. So the sun peaks about 80 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:57 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 20m near June down to 9h 50m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Whalley come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby North Delta, New Westminster and Delta. Each is only a few minutes off Whalley's clock.
