Prayer Times in Vasastaden, Sweden
Prayer times in Vasastaden are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (59.35°N). We use the Muslim World League method, the one followed across Sweden. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.
Vasastaden's times use the Muslim World League method. That is the standard followed by most mosques in Sweden. They are drawn from Vasastaden's own coordinates (59.3500°N, 18.0333°E). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.
How Vasastaden's prayer times are worked out
From Vasastaden, the Qibla is 148° from true north. Face southeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 4,557 km (2,832 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Vasastaden's own coordinates (59.35°N, 18.03°E), not a national average. That is why Vasastaden's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.
Day length is what moves the Vasastaden timetable through the year. With the Muslim World League method, the longest daily fast — Fajr to Maghrib — runs about 19h 24m around June. It eases to 8h 38m by December. That is a 10h 46m swing, set by the city's latitude of 59.35°N. The farther a place sits from the equator, the wider the gap.
The Fajr and Isha angles for Vasastaden come from the Muslim World League. The Muslim World League method sets Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon, and Isha at 17°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. Vasastaden sits close to its Stockholm meridian, so Dhuhr lands near midday — 11:33 AM today. We also publish times for nearby Kungsholmen, Solna and Stockholm. Each is only a few minutes off Vasastaden's clock.

Sweden's unified timetable and the midnight-sun problem
Sweden is unusual. Since 1 May 2016 its mosques have shared one national timetable. The Swedish Imam Council adopted it, and Islamiska Förbundet publishes it. It is based on the Turkish Diyanet's calculation, which uses the same 18°/17° twilight angles as the Muslim World League method this page applies. So the times here line up closely with the national convention. The official table adds small precaution margins. The real challenge is latitude. From early May to early August, true night never falls over much of Sweden. The Imam Council's own guidance notes that the sharia signs for Isha and Fajr disappear. Northern communities therefore follow the nearest city with usable times. For Ramadan, guidance from the European Council for Fatwa permits estimation where the signs are absent.
Mosques of Stockholm, Malmö and the north
The Stockholm Mosque on Södermalm opened in 2000. It is named for its Emirati benefactor, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and is the capital's largest. Malmö's mosque, inaugurated in 1984, was among the country's first purpose-built. Sweden keeps no religious statistics. Pew estimated its Muslim-background population at roughly 8% in 2016, among the highest shares in Western Europe. Its roots run from Iraq and Syria to Somalia, Bosnia and Turkey. Clocks change with the EU, on the last Sundays of March and October. In midsummer the far north sees no sunset at all, and communities in Kiruna have been advised to follow Stockholm's timetable.
