Northern communities therefore follow the nearest city with usable times. For Ramadan, guidance from the European Council for Fatwa permits estimation where the signs are absent.

The Stockholm Mosque on Södermalm opened in 2000. It is named for its Emirati benefactor, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and is the capital's largest.
