Sumqayıt's times use the Muslim World League method. That is the standard followed by most mosques in Azerbaijan. They are drawn from Sumqayıt's own coordinates (40.5897°N, 49.6686°E). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Sumqayıt's prayer times are worked out

From Sumqayıt, the Qibla is 206° from true north. Face southwest to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 2,325 km (1,445 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Sumqayıt's own coordinates (40.59°N, 49.67°E), not a national average. That is why Sumqayıt's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Sumqayıt timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Sumqayıt lies well west inside its Baku time zone. So the sun peaks about 50 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:26 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 11m near June down to 10h 54m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Sumqayıt come from the Muslim World League. The Muslim World League method sets Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon, and Isha at 17°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Baku, Bakıxanov and Qaraçuxur. Each is only a few minutes off Sumqayıt's clock.
