Prayer Times in Sheki, Azerbaijan
Prayer times in Sheki are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (41.19°N). We use the Muslim World League method, the one followed across Azerbaijan. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.
Sheki's times use the Muslim World League method. That is the standard followed by most mosques in Azerbaijan. They are drawn from Sheki's own coordinates (41.1919°N, 47.1706°E). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.
How Sheki's prayer times are worked out
From Sheki, the Qibla is 200° from true north. Face south to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 2,304 km (1,432 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Sheki's own coordinates (41.19°N, 47.17°E), not a national average. That is why Sheki's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.
One local quirk shapes the Sheki timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Sheki lies well west inside its Baku time zone. So the sun peaks about 60 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:36 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 18m near June down to 10h 51m in December.
The Fajr and Isha angles for Sheki come from the Muslim World League. The Muslim World League method sets Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon, and Isha at 17°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Mingachevir, Yevlakh and Ganja. Each is only a few minutes off Sheki's clock.

Who oversees prayer in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan is Muslim-majority but constitutionally secular, and unusually it is also Shia-majority. Most of its Muslims are Twelver Shia, with a substantial Sunni minority. The two have long prayed side by side. Religious life is coordinated by the Caucasus Muslim Board in Baku, one of the oldest Islamic institutions in the region, which oversees both communities. No single daily timetable is imposed. This page applies the Muslim World League calculation (Fajr 18°, Isha 17°) to the city's own coordinates. Shia (Jafari) practice may place Maghrib and Isha a little differently. Azerbaijan keeps a year-round UTC+4 clock.
The mosques of Baku
Baku's Heydar Mosque opened in 2014 and is named after former president Heydar Aliyev. It is the largest mosque in Azerbaijan and the whole Caucasus. It is known for appointing both a Shia and a Sunni imam, so the two communities gather under one roof. On the Caspian shore stands the Bibi-Heybat Mosque. It was first raised in the 13th century, destroyed under Soviet rule in 1936, and rebuilt in the 1990s. It is a revered shrine honouring a descendant of the Prophet's family. Across the country mosques announce the standard first-shadow Asr shown on this page.
