Samara Prayer Times

Prayer Times in Samara, Ethiopia

Prayer times in Samara are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (11.79°N). We use the Muslim World League method, the one followed across Ethiopia. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Samara's times use the Muslim World League method. That is the standard followed by most mosques in Ethiopia. They are drawn from Samara's own coordinates (11.7934°N, 41.0058°E). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Samara's prayer times are worked out

From Samara, the Qibla is 353° from true north. Face north to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 1,078 km (670 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Samara's own coordinates (11.79°N, 41.01°E), not a national average. That is why Samara's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Samara timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Samara lies well west inside its Addis Ababa time zone. So the sun peaks about 24 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:01 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 14h 07m near June down to 12h 42m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Samara come from the Muslim World League. The Muslim World League method sets Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon, and Isha at 17°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Weldiya, Kombolcha and Dessie. Each is only a few minutes off Samara's clock.
