Salt Lake City's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in Utah and across the United States. They are drawn from Salt Lake City's own coordinates (40.7608°N, 111.8910°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Salt Lake City's prayer times are worked out

From Salt Lake City, the Qibla is 29° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 12,508 km (7,772 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Salt Lake City's own coordinates (40.76°N, 111.89°W), not a national average. That is why Salt Lake City's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Salt Lake City timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Salt Lake City lies well west inside its Denver time zone. So the sun peaks about 96 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 1:13 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 16h 46m near June down to 10h 37m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Salt Lake City come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Las Vegas, Denver and Albuquerque. Each is only a few minutes off Salt Lake City's clock.
