How En Nedjma's prayer times are worked out

From En Nedjma, the Qibla is 101° from true north. Face east to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 4,215 km (2,619 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from En Nedjma's own coordinates (35.65°N, 0.57°W), not a national average. That is why En Nedjma's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the En Nedjma timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. En Nedjma lies well west inside its Algiers time zone. So the sun peaks about 71 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:47 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 16h 23m near June down to 11h 17m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for En Nedjma come from the Muslim World League. The Muslim World League method sets Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon, and Isha at 17°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Assi Bou Nif, Oran and Bir el Djir. Each is only a few minutes off En Nedjma's clock.
