Prayer Times in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Dubaiprayer times are calculated based on the city's precise geographic coordinates (25.2048°N, 55.2708°E) using the Dubai calculation method — the standard followed by most mosques in United Arab Emirates. Times shown are for today's date and update automatically at midnight.

The five daily prayers — Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha — are calculated from the sun's position relative to Dubai's latitude and longitude. As the sun's declination changes throughout the year, prayer times shift by several minutes each day. This is why a Dubai prayer time calendar for the full month is shown below — so you can plan ahead without checking daily.

How Dubai's prayer times are worked out

Dubai sits 1,631 km (1,014 miles) from the Kaaba in Mecca, so the Qibla from here is 258° from true north — you face west to pray. Fajr and Isha depend on how far the sun drops below the horizon, and United Arab Emirates follows the Dubai method set by the Dubai Awqaf authority: Fajr begins when the sun is 18.2° below the horizon, and Isha when it reaches 18.2°. A city that used ISNA's 15° instead would get a noticeably different Fajr — which is why the method, not just the coordinates, decides the answer.

Day length is what really moves the timetable in Dubai. Measured with the Dubai method, the longest daily fast here — from Fajr to Maghrib — runs about 15h 16m around June, while the shortest is roughly 12h 00m in December: a swing of 3h 16m across the year. That spread is set by Dubai's latitude (25.20°N); cities nearer the equator barely vary, while far-northern ones swing by many hours.

One local quirk worth knowing: Dhuhr in Dubai does not fall at 12:00. Because the city sits well west within its Asia/Dubai time zone, the sun peaks about 29 minutes after clock noon, and Dhuhr follows the sun rather than the clock — today it is at 12:28 PM. The nearest cities we also publish times for are Business Bay, Al Karama, Dayrah — close enough that their times differ from Dubai's by only a few minutes.

Who sets prayer times in the UAE

Prayer timetables in the UAE are issued federally by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat (Awqaf), and in Dubai specifically by IACAD, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department. This page uses the widely adopted "Dubai" method — Fajr and Isha both at 18.2° below the horizon — which closely tracks what UAE residents see, though the government's own Awqaf and IACAD timetables can differ by a minute or two. The Maliki school predominates, so Asr is called at the first shadow. The Emirates' population is heavily international, and mosques serve worshippers from across the Muslim world.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Dubai's mosques

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, built between 1994 and 2007, is the country's spiritual centrepiece and holds more than 40,000 worshippers. Its main prayer hall contains the largest hand-knotted carpet in the world — roughly 5,600 square metres woven in Iran — beneath one of the largest chandeliers ever made. In Dubai, the Jumeirah Mosque, opened in 1979 in the Fatimid style, is one of the few mosques in the emirate that welcomes non-Muslim visitors through guided tours, making it a well-known point of contact between the UAE's Muslim majority and its large expatriate population.
