The Grande Mosquée de Paris

France's Muslim population is largely of Maghrebi origin and therefore predominantly Maliki, which is why mainstream French timetables use the standard first-shadow Asr; mosques serving Turkish and South Asian communities follow the later Hanafi time instead. The Grande Mosquée de Paris, inaugurated in 1926, was built as France's tribute to the roughly 100,000 Muslim colonial soldiers who died fighting for France in the First World War.
