Prayer Times in Biu, Nigeria

Prayer times in Biu are worked out each day from the city's coordinates (10.61°N). We use the Muslim World League method, the one followed across Nigeria. The five times shift by a minute or two each day as the sun moves. The full month is listed below.

Biu's times use the Muslim World League method. That is the standard followed by most mosques in Nigeria. They are drawn from Biu's own coordinates (10.6128°N, 12.1946°E). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Biu's prayer times are worked out

From Biu, the Qibla is 64° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 3,181 km (1,977 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Biu's own coordinates (10.61°N, 12.19°E), not a national average. That is why Biu's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Biu timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Biu lies well west inside its Lagos time zone. So the sun peaks about 20 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 11:56 AM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 14h 02m near June down to 12h 45m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Biu come from the Muslim World League. The Muslim World League method sets Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon, and Isha at 17°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Gombe, Mubi and Numan. Each is only a few minutes off Biu's clock.
