How At Tall's prayer times are worked out

From At Tall, the Qibla is 165° from true north. Face south to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 1,399 km (869 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from At Tall's own coordinates (33.61°N, 36.31°E), not a national average. That is why At Tall's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the At Tall timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. At Tall lies well west inside its Damascus time zone. So the sun peaks about 43 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:20 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 16h 07m near June down to 11h 24m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for At Tall come from the Muslim World League. The Muslim World League method sets Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon, and Isha at 17°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Dūmā, Damascus and Jaramānā. Each is only a few minutes off At Tall's clock.
