Albany's times use the ISNA method. That is the standard used by most mosques in New York and across the United States. They are drawn from Albany's own coordinates (42.6526°N, 73.7562°W). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Albany's prayer times are worked out

From Albany, the Qibla is 59° from true north. Face northeast to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 10,176 km (6,323 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Albany's own coordinates (42.65°N, 73.76°W), not a national average. That is why Albany's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Albany timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Albany lies well west inside its New York time zone. So the sun peaks about 63 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 12:40 PM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 17h 06m near June down to 10h 27m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Albany come from the Islamic Society of North America. The ISNA method sets Fajr when the sun is 15° below the horizon, and Isha at 15°. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Utica, Hartford and New Haven. Each is only a few minutes off Albany's clock.
