Prayer Times in Al Ḩudaydah, Yemen

Al Ḩudaydah's times use the Umm al-Qura method. That is the standard followed by most mosques in Yemen. They are drawn from Al Ḩudaydah's own coordinates (14.7978°N, 42.9545°E). The schedule updates automatically at midnight, with no manual setting.

How Al Ḩudaydah's prayer times are worked out

From Al Ḩudaydah, the Qibla is 336° from true north. Face northwest to pray toward the Kaaba. It lies 807 km (502 miles) away in a straight line across the globe. Every time on this page is worked out from Al Ḩudaydah's own coordinates (14.80°N, 42.95°E), not a national average. That is why Al Ḩudaydah's times and its Qibla differ a little from cities a short distance away.

One local quirk shapes the Al Ḩudaydah timetable: midday prayer does not land at 12:00. Al Ḩudaydah lies well west inside its Aden time zone. So the sun peaks about 16 minutes after clock noon. Dhuhr follows the sun, not the clock — today it falls at 11:52 AM. Across the year, the fast here runs from about 14h 23m near June down to 12h 34m in December.

The Fajr and Isha angles for Al Ḩudaydah come from Umm al-Qura University, Makkah. The Umm al-Qura method sets Fajr when the sun is 18.5° below the horizon, and Isha 90 minutes after Maghrib. Use ISNA's 15° instead and Fajr here would move by several minutes. So the method — not the coordinates alone — settles the final time. We also publish times for nearby Zabīd, ‘Amrān and Sanaa. Each is only a few minutes off Al Ḩudaydah's clock.
